Things I learnt about myself this year...and some more...

- One's parents' friends are exactly that - parents' friends.

- It is possible to deeply love and yet despise someone.

- As a person, I can't handle company 24x7. I need some alone time.

- No pain compares to watching something happen to your own child.

- Some people enter your life for a brief while. They are very important in that phase.

- Till there is life, there is hope. Till.

- What's coming up next is sometimes completely un-guessable.

- I punished certain people by shutting them out of my life not because they were any worse than some others, but because they were too soft as targets and it was entirely possible to torture them. I heaped my reaction too heavily on them.

- I found myself capable of being very sad and yet being able to mingle and dissolve in a social gathering.

  3. You my friend have learned so much this past year and have grown so much this year.....It will takes years to fully come to grips with this "new life" you will lead but someday your wisdom/hurt/suffering/understanding(if you get there) will greatly affect someone else when they need it most!!!

  4. I read this post and see a woman who has gone through so much but is still willing to look deeply at herself and see all that is there. No one is perfect and terrible hurts can bring out the worst in us. But recognizing this and allowing yourself to move forward is a part of the growth that sees you where you are today. Whatever comes your way this year, know that you are strong enough and good enough to handle it.

    Happy New Year.

  8. I too need alone time, it's probably why I would have never married unless I met my husband and found someone I can be alone together.

May 2012 be kind to you.

  9. You forgot how brave, resilient and strong you are. You survived the worst and now have a new year of hope and love ahead. I hope it's nothing but wonderful. :)

Interesting title for a post that had no title when I began composing this post. So the update first - I haz a job. I cleared the interview about which I mentioned in the last post. I was an Asso.ciate Prof at the last institution, but here I have started at entry level again. Also, my field has changed from Mar.keting to Gen.eral Man.agement. But I haz a job, and a raise over the previous packet I got. I am sorry I keep posting from the times when I am swimming in an anxiety pocket. And I am in one now DH hasn't picked up the thing he wants to pursue next. Money is a concern. My MIL is just being her. I was sick the last week. I am not happy with the kids' school. And then you have those tiny sparkles here and there that keep sparkling from the side of the extended family. They add to the scene, but are not that important.  DH keeps threatening me with getting a job - "Imma going to get a job!" . Gee, that's scary! I don't know how I will liv...

I Should Have Known

...On the night of 19th when my breasts became hard and sore to touch, the nurses brought me hot water bottles rather than my baby. I should have known. ...Birdman was apparently away to Very Big City with our baby. Every SMS update sent to me about her after 16th Jan was fake. I was a donkey eating at his trough. I should have known. ...Visitors who came to see me in the hospital did not look me straight in the eye. I should have known. ...My mother sounded reluctant every time I asked her on a timeline on when my stitches would be cut and I could travel to Very Big City. I should have known. ...I grieved at how many pricks and tubes were affixed to my little baby while she lay cold and unfeeling at the bottom of an earth pit fatigued from all the effort she put into staying alive. I should have known. ...Family dropped clues on how oxygen deprivation could affect the brain. I spelt it out for them. I told them that Lola was my daughter even if she came out r-e-t-a-r-d-e-d from the o...
