In nine days, M will be two. Can you believe it?
Unlike Figlia, he won't have a party. To tell the truth, I am not even firm with what will be done for the birthday.
This year has been hard on me, and I am in the midst of an existential crisis.
We have travelled outstation twice in the last six weeks, and I went out solo for a conference on my own for a couple of days last week. I wish I could spend some more alone time (maybe a few months?), but that won't happen.
Figlia will be five in a couple of months. She is smart (not the first time I said that), and picks up everything like a sponge, and sometimes plays back data in front of people I would not share the data with. That means we have to be careful with what we say to each other in front of her. Then the little Missy will pick up the tone, and reprimand either parent, or both for the way we are talking.
She is having a food problem. She has never given me trouble with food. But she is constantly hungry, and asks for something too frequently, and if M has left his plate unfinished, she volunteers for finishing it. I have never spoken about this before, but it has been going on for a few months. I feel that the problem is psychological.
The other thing is that I think she has picked up that I am distant. I am there, I am around, but she senses some distance in me.
I am not alright, but I am trying my best.
M is having his own party. Thanks to the daycare, he regularly comes back with sneezes and coughs, and is currently running his third bout of running nose in as many months. And today he woke up with one of the eyes swollen shut (hello insect bite).
Gracy is around, but she has been very inconsistent these last few weeks, and I am irritated with her.
For what it's worth, everything that you wrote about Figlia completely mimics Stella right now (and she'll be 5 next month). For the last month or so she is eating CONSTANTLY, but I really just think it's a growth spurt and not psychological. She also is a sponge about data and such and spilling those words back out to whomever!
ReplyDeleteHang in there lady. Time with little ones is so hard.
Kade is 5 and a half and he EATS NON STOP! He is constantly asking for a snack more food another snack a bit of this and eats a healthy helping at all his meal times - I really think it is a growth spurt thing and not necessarily phycological with Figlia. But keep an eye on it.
ReplyDeleteTake it easy on yourself. Hang in there, you're doing the best you can in a situation that is not made of the best circumstances.

My kid eats non-stop. Sometimes she dials it back to 4 meals a day, but it's usually more like 5 or 6. It's exhausting trying to keep up with shoveling food in her face.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to M! At that age, parties are more about parents and other family than the kids. No worries.
