The Kids

Figlia has just turned 4 and a half, and she is doing good in several regards. She is taking her baths herself and is able to shampoo her own hair (there is some amount of supervision to check for leftover lather, or whether hair has been washed properly). The door of the bathroom is wide open when she is bathing, so that any of the adults can enter as needed. She is able to wear most of her clothes on her own, and combing her hair is the job she does least well.

Figlia is also showing keen interest in sketching, and that is a habit I am encouraging, because it keeps her off any screens, is enjoyable and engrossing, and she can spend a good half hour on it when she is in the mood.

Everyone says that M's temperament is changing. He has taken a turn for the naughty, and is one of the more vocal kids of his age-group in the daycare. One needs to be worried, if he is in another room, and completely quiet. M has had his share of fun lately...hurling raw eggs as tennis balls, running out of the house stark naked, while his father was in the house taking his bath, throwing out Figlia's stuff from the balcony among random daily highlights.

Figlia and M get along well, and they share things with each other, which is fabulous. At M's age, Figlia was never interested in pull-along toys, but M does enjoy them very much. M is also happy with stacking toys, which again was never Figlia's interest.

I made conscious efforts for my anger to subside (or atleast to not burst out all the time), and I think that has impacted Figlia positively. I have noticed her outbursts have reduced, and she is not screaming that much on M either.

Gracy met with an accident on July 1, and has been absent since then.

  1. It's lovely when the children get a little older and can spend more than just a few moments doing something. I've glad Figlia has found something that she likes to do - my girl enjoys crafts of any sort. She makes hair bows and all kinds of other things.

M is as feisty as his sister, just in a different way? You were not meant to have calm, quiet, placid children...

Sorry to hear about Gracy - she was leaving anyway, though, wasn't she? Regardless, just added stress for you. :(
