13

M is 13 months today. I was reminiscing that today in 2014, hubby had sent cake to us (at City X) to celebrate him turning a month old. It seems so long ago.

Yesterday, hubby and I were talking about how different the personalities of Figlia and M are. Figlia was naughty, and looked so. M is naughty and does not look so.

Figlia is far more open about her emotions than M, or atleast that is how it feels right now. And then M is just a baby, please remind me that.

M is taking better interest in food, and the best part is that he goes straight to Figlia in case she is eating, and demands his share. Figlia shares easily with him,  so my referee role does not kick in at mealtimes.

I do have to play referee when any one of them is sleepy. By some magical permutation, the other one also has an urgent, screaming request at the same time.

We co-sleep, but the arrangement has changed. It is me with Figlia, and hubby with M.

M had strange boils near his hairline, and ears, which I initially shrugged off as mosquito bites. But I had to buy prescription cream because the boils appeared to be increasing in number.

We are less than a month away from Figlia's fourth birthday. It feels surreal.

Also, her birthday is permanently intertwined with L's birthday in my mind. She would have turned five. I feel the pinch every time.

  1. Four is a great age. Better emotional control, better communication skills.

Ha - sounds like you'll have to keep an eye on that M, but I think they are all impish at that stage.

I doubt the pinch will ever go away. I hope that the celebration of Figlia can mitigate some of your sorrow for the loss of L.
