We took M to the pediatrician last Tuesday. He changed the anti-biotic and added some more medicines. Thankfully, M is better now. And yesterday was his last day on antibiotic.
M slept much better in the latter half of last week, and that was a sanity saver.
His fever and mouth ulcers are gone. And only the cough remains.

Looks like M has completely skipped the sitting on his own part in the milestones business. Yesterday I noticed that he was trying to raise his knees off the ground and balancing his body weight on the toes. He was not able to sustain, and he quickly settled back in his horizontal position.
He is fast, and now going through the length of our house on his volition. He is fascinated with footwear, and everything that is in Figlia's hands.
I have no memory of every finding Figlia 'stuck' under some furniture after having managed to crawl into it. But M has left a mark in that log. It is scary and very funny at the same instant.
M has learnt a special trick of reaching to things that are kept on Figlia's table. She has a small pink table and chair of her own which is of moulded plastic. She eats regularly on the same, and also uses the table for reading and writing. Mister M goes up to the table and yanks and shakes the table so that the thing will either fall off or slip off the table and he can have his a-ha moment.

Figlia occasionally points to her picture collage that is framed and adorns one of our walls. She shows it to everyone, showing her as an infant cradled in her parents' respective arms.
On the left side is a collage of the only pictures I have of L. I have told Figlia about who that is, but I don't think she is registering it.
Just the other day, when I quizzed her again, she replied, "M".
My girl used to wedge herself under furniture fairly regularly. I am not a nice person, because I would find her wedged due to the crying and then I would stand there and laugh while she tried to get out. She only managed to wedge herself further under things. I guess that's what happens when you only know how to go backwards.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear M is better. And as to the pictures of L - 1) good to have confirmation that the resemblance between L and M is noticeable and 2) Figlia will figure it out eventually - it took my daughter very little time to know the difference between my sisters (I have 3) because she interacted with them, but it took her YEARS to know the difference between her father's sisters (there are 4) because they never paid her much attention once she wasn't an infant. She also shows no interest in my dad, since he died 15 years before she was born. So, since she doesn't get to see or talk to L in person, Figlia hasn't figured out the relationship. Give it time - she'll get it, probably in the next year or two.
It seems to me that M is trying to get to stand up and walk, not upend F's table on purpose. If that is so, then be afraid. :-D
ReplyDeleteI agree with A above, give F time, and she will know the difference. have you told her an adapted variant of L's story? She might not be able to make a connection to the picture. Some kids need a story. The thing is you might have to tell that story again if she likes it. And it depends on you if you are ready to tell and relive that story again, and again.
