Happenings

My periods came last evening. Hurrah! They were 16 days late, and I chose to not test. I am glad they came. However, they coincided right with my parents departing, and I had perceived it to be painful and anxiety inducing. Because last night passed well, things are better.

M had colic last evening. But it is better for it to happen at 7 pm than midnight. Thank God for Gracy, coz she held him while I got his meds, and used a home remedy. He was finally soothed. He slept at around 7:45 pm-ish, and woke up today around 7:30 with several feeds in his sleepy state.

Our current arrangement is such that everyone sleeps together. DH and F, and M and I but on different beds in the same room.

F had been berserk this gone week, and it was grating. She was literally bumping off the walls, she had a temper, tantrums to throw and a tongue to match. Add a generous dollop of whine, and that was her with us. She was pretty calm after everything "returned" to normal last evening (once the guests were gone).

She still has to be told repeatedly to not speak loudly when M is asleep, but I hardly feel she is going to learn it in a day.

M is definitely a calmer baby comparatively. He is more composed, and cries when sleepy or when he has pooped. In fact, once he is sleepy, he craves a feed to soothe him, but refuses to hold the nipple at all.

And then he has to be calmed before he takes the feed and drifts off to slumber.

M sleeps on his tummy a lot. In fact, he turns himself on his tummy, even if I put him on his back. Figlia never slept on her tummy that much. She does it now, but never did it as an infant.

The biggest surprise is that M pees in the bathroom when influenced to do so! Take him to the loo, make this "shhhhhhhh" sound, and the Mister relieves himself! I do put him in diapers though.

Figlia loves telling stories to M, and that is a pleasure.

Figlia is smart with her words. Last night, when departing, my mother told Figlia that when she grew up, her Dad will buy a train ticket for her so that she could visit them. F promptly replied "But they (her parents) will never let me grow up!".

Or the fact that couple of day back when I scolded her over something, all she had to reply was "Are you done?". I might be dumbfounded, but she is not.

Few days back, I was taking my evening walk when a lady from a nearby building who has chatted up a bit with me off and on over the last couple of years stopped to congratulate me. I assumed she was doing so for the baby. Turns out, she congratulated me on having the energy of thinking about and actually having another baby!

  1. You know, it also won't hurt M to learn to sleep through noise. I know that's hard to contemplate because he's already used to quiet, but if he's got a noisy, talkative sister, he'll have to get used to it. Let Figlia talk him to sleep - maybe he'll get bored easily. It does sound like you might get an easy time potty-training him, but it's probably too early to tell.

    She's hilarious, that girl!

Season...

With very limited time and access to the netz, I just want to declare that Lady Season is here. She arrived last Wednesday, and I will someday in future speak of how due to SuperPed's preparedness a crisis was averted. I tend to have firework endings. Her with me, and my first chance of mothering is like a spray of cold water on my face. I am very sleep deprived. Apparently, wise birds said to me that I should sleep when the girl sleeps, but so far my body schedule and kid's schedule are haywire. I hope to be better adapted to this soon. It is tough for me to find net time as of now, and there are a couple of things I want to post online, since CBub's dates also passed by recently, but so far it does not seem to be happening. And I just want to say thanks. Even though I am craptastic at responding, I am reading off and on as I can manage.
