Down the Old Lane; Up the New One

I read through the initial few posts of 2012. It's a collection of a shell-shocked new mum's early days, and I am amused at the number of times sleep was mentioned in those posts.

Am I sleeping much better now? No. In fact, as I came down to the six month posts, I realized that Figlia's night feeds were far lesser in number than what M has. M is still taking almost 4-5 feeds in the night!

There are several differences between them. M goes cranka-doo when he is sleepy. He will writhe and try to slither out of anyone's grasp when he is sleepy. Best thing to do is to put him on bed and calm him with a feed. The world may be falling apart, but not tonight, baby!

Figlia used to get up in the morning and call out to anyone who would listen. M wakes up, rolls to his belly, if he is not on it already, and just engages himself. It is not necessary to be at his bedside immediately after he has woken up.

~~TMI ahead
Figlia never had a poo schedule. That inconsistency still affects her potty training. M poops first thing in the morning.
~~TMI done

Figlia slept on her belly but usually more on her back or sideways. M has almost exclusively slept on his belly. I find that this position is great for releasing gases.

M has already been exposed to Lentils, Mangoes, Bananas, Beetroots, Bottle Gourds, Rice, Millet and Potatoes, and he has tolerated it well. I have deliberately kept him away from melons and pomegranate, and I will try those later.

A big difference between M and Figlia is also that Figlia had graduated to larger nipple holes by the same age. But M is still using size S nipples, because he is unable to handle the flow of the bigger ones.

At 6 months, he is 17.8 lbs. (Figlia was 9 kg at her first birthday, and he is 8.1 kgs at 6 months!)

DH is still working seven days a week. On Sunday, he was "late" to work, and I was not feeling very sympathetic on that.

I have pestered him time and again on getting weekly offs, but that is not happening. Only thing is that he has taken break from his gym. He has signed me up too for July. In fact, he even invented a schedule for me (I love when people predict me for me).

He is due to go back there in July, and even I am 'supposed' to start gym in July. We will see about it then. I am not in favour of it.

He is fabulous with the kids when he is home. But I hate the label of quality time.

  1. Is this a busy time for DH, or is it always busy time? Will there be a break? How's your part-time nanny working out? Can she graduate to full time?

Season...

With very limited time and access to the netz, I just want to declare that Lady Season is here. She arrived last Wednesday, and I will someday in future speak of how due to SuperPed's preparedness a crisis was averted. I tend to have firework endings. Her with me, and my first chance of mothering is like a spray of cold water on my face. I am very sleep deprived. Apparently, wise birds said to me that I should sleep when the girl sleeps, but so far my body schedule and kid's schedule are haywire. I hope to be better adapted to this soon. It is tough for me to find net time as of now, and there are a couple of things I want to post online, since CBub's dates also passed by recently, but so far it does not seem to be happening. And I just want to say thanks. Even though I am craptastic at responding, I am reading off and on as I can manage.
