Head Over the Water Level

So, the good news is that we had a normal night of sleep yesterday, which given the fact that Figzy is unwell goes into the 'good' category of normal. Her temp shot up again early morning today, but it did not go as high as it had yesterday.

I experienced one of the worst night outs in the last two years, last night.

We had an invite for a birthday party, and our host repeatedly requested us to be on time (7:30 p.m.). Since DH was going to come home around his usual 8:15, I had earlier informed the host that we won't make it there till 8:30. Anyways, I made an alternative arrangement so that Figzy and I reached the party early and DH would show up late. (DH informed me in early evening, that he would come around only by 9 or so.)

With Figzy sick, I knew that things would not run as usual. She initially did not want to change her clothes after she came home from daycare. Then, once she changed her clothes, I dressed up in utter haste, and we left for the venue.

We were on time. Just as we entered the party, Figzy baulked, and screamed. She was terrified of this costumed character (Mick.ey Mou.se) and would not enter. To manage her, I took her out of the venue, and we spent close to 45 minutes sitting in different parts of the club.

She was in my arms/lap the entire time, and either wanted to go home, or climb up my lap further.

She kicked (unintentionally) twice in my stomach (about which I am sensitive about because I am on the south side of this Clomid cycle).

I finally got her around to enter the place. I wanted to ask the host if he would ask the mascot to disappear, but it would have been utterly selfish on my part to say so. The host just ensured that the mascot did not appear in the front area of the place.

Figlia clung to me for the rest of the party. She was irritated, and wanted nothing to do with the festivities around her. She did not want to eat. She did not want to drink. She would not get down my lap. She could not seem to find a comfortable spot in my lap. If she mouthed anything, she would chew and spit it out. I used a tissue paper to "receive" the cud, and forgot to keep it away from her reach. She used the cuddy tissue to wipe her mouth. Ugh. Ugh.

When DH finally walked in (9:15 p.m.), tears were hanging on the inner edge of my eyelids, because I had had it. I was about to explode, and couldn't.

Things got better when he came. Eventually things settled enough for us to have our food, and my respite was that Figzy ate too.

I hate DH's long working hours. I really despise them, and whatever I say in that regard puts me in the "un-supportive wife" category.

The daycare lady called up today because Figzy wouldn't be consoled by anything.

She has a throat infection (and hence the fever), and the doc started her on medicines (including an antibiotic).

I really hate the fact that I cannot make things instantaneously okay for Figzy. And I hate to see her suffer.

  1. It's hard work when you feel like you never get a break.

I hope Figzy's medicine works quickly and she gets back to being a happy girl again soo.

  2. It sounds like you had a really rough evening. I hope the meds start doing their thing, and that F is back to her normal self. Isn't it funny though how we can't seem to catch a tiny, teeny break when we most need one? I personally find that childhood illnesses arrive at the most inoportune time, and they are never, ever welcome. I would banish them completely, but alas, no one asks me... It is not easy, I know. I hope the Clomid also does its thing. Crossables crossed.

  3. We have all been there. Hoping she is on the mend (and that you've gotten some 'me' time).

  4. The party sounds like it was exhausting :( What a rough night.
I'm just getting caught up on blogs. I hope she's feeling better. It's so difficult when they're hurting like that and there isn't anything more you can do.

Season...

With very limited time and access to the netz, I just want to declare that Lady Season is here. She arrived last Wednesday, and I will someday in future speak of how due to SuperPed's preparedness a crisis was averted. I tend to have firework endings. Her with me, and my first chance of mothering is like a spray of cold water on my face. I am very sleep deprived. Apparently, wise birds said to me that I should sleep when the girl sleeps, but so far my body schedule and kid's schedule are haywire. I hope to be better adapted to this soon. It is tough for me to find net time as of now, and there are a couple of things I want to post online, since CBub's dates also passed by recently, but so far it does not seem to be happening. And I just want to say thanks. Even though I am craptastic at responding, I am reading off and on as I can manage.
