- We have mild success in the brushing department. Spider-Man is awesome. Figzy doesn't let me or her Dad touch her teeth, and we just play-act what she is supposed to do and she does it when she is in the mood to. Otherwise, she just sucks the bristles, and that's also progress in my diary.
- Your prize for avidly following this blog is lice stories (come on, I know you live for them.). Figlia is not convinced that she needs to comb her hair. Or we must comb her hair. Thrice a week was the best performance so far. I am in constant fear that she is really vulnerable to the creatures-that-be making a cozy nest in her thick black hair. And she cries every time I finished with her hair.
- Once upon a short time ago, I used to average about 200 pics of her in a month. And then I would process them and send monthly updates to family. I have a simple point-and-shoot camera, and my kid knows how to turn it on, and push buttons and rotate that tiny silver disk. And if she sees me with the camera, she screams "photo" and comes to me to take away the camera. And then, I can't take a pic. In all of February till date, I have 5 pics of her.
- She is again going through a phase where if she wakes up during the night, she cries for milk. Sometimes, I can convince her that "she just had it", sometimes I have to cave in. Whatever that it is, it does not make for sound sleep.
Why did blogger put that sign out button where "submit" used to live? I just erased my fabulous comment. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteTo sum up: She'll sleep through the entire night most of the time eventually. And you'll sort of miss those middle-of-the-night wake ups. Try having Dad comb her hair. Or spray-in, leave-on conditioner. Time to "take turns" with the camera - Mommy's turn means she has to smile or continue what she was doing. Figzy's turn means whatever she wants it to mean.
I have really slacked off about taking photos too- I feel bad, but I just never seem to catch him. I either don't have a camera ready, or he's too fast. It happens!
ReplyDeleteSorry for the sleep issues :( We're having some here, and it is no fun. I hope she goes to sleeping through the night soon.
Ouch about the sleeping. Last night I woke just before the 3am bells due to drunk people heading home, and in the middle of the night before extremely uncharacteristically Gwen woke and began crying. Two nights of sleep broken in the middle is more than enough to remind me how glad I am that Gwen doesn't make a habit of night-waking *knocks wood*. Hope Figzy starts sleeping better soon.
ReplyDeleteAbout two months ago is also when I have a lot of pictures that consist of Gwen reaching towards the camera... :) It did get better.
It gets better, both with teeth brushing and the posing for the camera. The face-twisting smile they do when you ask them to is cute initially, afterwards, you just want a normal picture of your child not screwing up their little face. We have a two phase teeth cleaning process: first, mum or dad puts a bit of tooth paste on all teeth themselves, so that every tooth has some (and gets clean in the process, thank you electric toothbrushes everywhere), then G has a go at it himself. Stevie is much more turbulent, but we expect him to at this age. We also have a song, tune of wheels on the bus, and I cannot brush my own teeth without having it hummed, even if it is inside my head, but more often than not, it is hummed out loud.
