Two for the price of one - that's what this PM post is.

I had a pink eye early this month. My right eye got affected, and though I tried to prevent it, my left one went down with it too. I cut down on physical contact with the kid.
One evening, when I was already on the mend, Figlia was sitting in my lap, and I was rubbing her legs, asking her if she liked it. My daughter opened the palm of my right hand, and bent down and kissed it.
I had missed kissing her, and I think she missed it too.
I had thus received my first spontaneous kiss, though she keeps giving actual and flying kisses when asked.

We are never out of dirty laundry. We will never be out of it, unless they invent machines that load themselves, wash, dry and fold clothes.
Clothes are washed on priority basis.
I was sorting though the laundry, when I came upon this top Figlia had worn the previous evening. Don't know what came upon me, but I smelled it. It smelled of her.
There was another top I smelled quite a while ago, hoping to find CBub's smell on it. It smelt impersonal. She did not leave me her scent.
As much as my sadness was on the last encounter, my delight and sniffing that sweaty top was incredibly more.
Life is an imperfect balance. I can't compare the lack of scent to a smelly top, but I can acknowledge the fact that for the blessing lost, another blessing does exist in my life.

Oh, I love spontaneous kisses. And even though I think there is a personality trait as far as being touched is concerned, I believe that this can also be acquired. And I do all I can to have children that want to kiss me and who let themselves be kissed. That is indeed bliss.
ReplyDeleteI smell tiny pieces of clothing as well. They always smell wonderful. I think that whatever scent CBub left behind, has by now gone to meet her up again. But should you meet it without warning, I am sure you would recognise it.
This is exquisite. "Life is an imperfect balance."
ReplyDeleteAnd your post has made me more sensory-aware today.
"Life is an imperfect balance,"- I like that.
ReplyDeleteThose are some poignant moments too.
Beautiful. "Life is an imperfect balance," spoke to me too. Thank you for sharing your simple and truly perfect moments from this month.
ReplyDelete"I can acknowledge the fact that for the blessing lost, another blessing does exist in my life" Amen & amen!
ReplyDeleteI often look at the ring I wear with the birthstones of my four babies... two lost and two precious wee-lings... and as much as there is still a sting when I ponder Emily and Olivia, the blessing of Ginny and Pip wouldn't be here without the previous losses.
Spontaneous kisses - how wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry that you don't have a reminder of CBub's scent. It seems so hard to get a fix on memories sometimes. Other times, they're clear as day. But it's the difficult times that stick with us.
Imperfect balance, indeed.
oh spontaneous kisses - jealous over here! And yes, your post has made me more sensory-aware today too. Perfect moments through scent and through touch. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYes, for one blessing lost, another definitely does exist. It takes being in the moment to recognize this. A first spontaneous kiss definitely does meet the definition of a perfect moment.
