The Nights

...are the same, but no two nights are exactly the same. She continues to be a restless sleeper. Falling asleep every night is a chore, but the great news is that eventually she does.

Her seventh tooth erupted last night. She has a neat vocabulary (I am stocking up on cotton buds, because I know I have a talker at hand) already. She responds to music and rhymes. She does not enjoy staring at TV screens, but fists down the laptop keyboard, unlocks her father's touchscreen phone, and has learnt to slide down from our bed. She is playful and active, and eats almost the same food as we do.

Bre.astfe.eding stopped completely after epic biting began, and she has sort of forgotten them after her stay at her grandma's (I attempted a re-introduction), but I do know that she is missing it. She has taken to drinking from her bottle almost every two hours in the night, and she refuses to let go of the bottle. She actually fails the anti-colic bottles by the fact that she continues to suck on them after the milk is finished.

  1. Does she sleep in her own room? I have to ask what cotton buds are for?

  2. I think she sounds pretty normal! My girl babbled incessantly, and she still pretty much does. It's exhausting following her conversations, but very entertaining. She didn't care much for TV, but she would be happy to watch videos on the computer (stuff from YouTube).

Since she's a year old now, so she could move on to sippy cups, if you want to break the bottle habit. (My sister is a pediatric dentist and was always full of advice on getting stuff out of the kids' mouths as quickly as possible.)

  4. Wow, she's going to keep you running. When I was TTC and thinking about all breast feeding stuff getting bit was a big fear for me. I was afraid my instant reaction would be to slap.

  5. Wow, 7 teeth! She's been busy!

    That's great that she's babbling/talking so much :)

Sorry that weaning hasn't been going so well. Hopefully she'll adapt to it better soon.

I Should Have Known

...On the night of 19th when my breasts became hard and sore to touch, the nurses brought me hot water bottles rather than my baby. I should have known. ...Birdman was apparently away to Very Big City with our baby. Every SMS update sent to me about her after 16th Jan was fake. I was a donkey eating at his trough. Season...

With very limited time and access to the netz, I just want to declare that Lady Season is here. She arrived last Wednesday, and I will someday in future speak of how due to SuperPed's preparedness a crisis was averted. I tend to have firework endings. Her with me, and my first chance of mothering is like a spray of cold water on my face. I am very sleep deprived. Apparently, wise birds said to me that I should sleep when the girl sleeps, but so far my body schedule and kid's schedule are haywire. I hope to be better adapted to this soon. It is tough for me to find net time as of now, and there are a couple of things I want to post online, since CBub's dates also passed by recently, but so far it does not seem to be happening. And I just want to say thanks. Even though I am craptastic at responding, I am reading off and on as I can manage.
