Red Quinoa Days

I typed something, and then I realized I am not liking it at all. So I deleted all of that and tried to type again. Life has been getting better by the hay-strand. Some days it is even better.

I finally found the will as well as the space to go back to reading. I am an avid reader who did not enjoy reading anymore and could not find the time either. I have found my love back again in Hemingway. It's like going back to the loved tavern you passed by everyday because your doctor forbade you to drink, and now the curfew is over.

Figlia is decidedly naughty, and she keeps me busy. One evening last week, she jumped off our bed without her jetpack. There was blood from both her nostrils, and it got okay with cold press. She gets into everything, and is busy figuring out ways to get to things that are deliberately out of reach for her.

I can hardly believe that we are now on the other side of her first birthday. Last year, it seemed like forever to that milestone, that the baby would always be a baby, and yet, here we are, clocking down to the second birthday.

Life seems tipped to get easier, even if that easier is a different flavour of easy.

Meanwhile, I have gone back to playing a mutated form of the Farmville. It's called Farm Story, and rather than the high involvement play I was into with the predecessor, all I do here is plant Red Quinoa, again and again. It takes four days for the crop to be ready for harvest, and when it notifies that the crop is ready, I am marveled by the fact that four days have vanished. It's not a ploy to kill time, rather a marker and a yardstick that time does indeed pass.

  1. If you have an iPhone another addictive game is Hay Day. Things don't wither. A coworker got me started and I am hooked, haha.

  2. They always have to push the boundaries, don't they? :) Ginny smacked her face on the coffee table earlier this month when she was attempting to stand on an upturned toy bin. Ended up with blood from two gashes... one inside her mouth and the other below her lip. ***sigh*** Hoping that Figlia gives you a breather.

And yay for reading! I'm just getting back there myself.

  3. Oh, dear. I remember being surprised by increased mobility. And the resulting bloody nose.

    Where are those jetpacks!?

  4. Getting into everything is a toddler's way of life! Put your breakables away for the next 5-10 years and bolt everything to the walls. She'll still manage to hurt herself, and you'll feel the pain too, but you wouldn't want her to not be curious anyway.

I find myself obsessing about missing days of FB games...Come Back Every Day For Bonus (whatever)! And then I realize it's just not important. But a time marker...nah - I can't get sucked into anything else!

Getting back to reading with Hemingway? You make me laugh - I have to start with light nonsense, and haven't much progressed past that.

  5. I started reading again, too! I'm sticking to mostly fluff because the whole thought of adding more drama into my life makes me feel a bit green, but I've managed to read three books this month alone. I haven't manage three of anything since before the big boys were born. It's the little things... Lol

Increased motility and increased blood flow definitely make for a more eventful day. It's fun, though, even if you do have that worry to deal with from here on out.

Hugs to you! And happy belated to Figlia!

  6. hubby and I went to see the hobbit movie. Perhaps you know that this is movie 1 - and there will be 2 more. As we were leaving, I realized that by the time movie #3 is out, Timothy will be walking and talking and... he'll be big.

Kids make you notice the passage of time that much more acutely!

  7. It is amazing how much time has passed, and how much quicker it seems to move even now.

And the curiosity, oh man the curiosity! It's a challenge, especially with all the bumps along the way, but it's also pretty amazing at times. I wish I had some advise for the boundary testing phase, but we're right there with you :)

I hope you find more time to read!

  8. Yikes on the bloody nose. Poor thing. Poor you too as I'm sure that scared the crap out of you too. I hope you get some good uality reading. I've had a bit of a hard time with reading lately too but then I've had a bit of a hard time focusing on much of anything.

  9. Parenting a daredevil is not easy. Take A's advice and bolt everything down. It's not getting easier, just so that you know. :-)
Time, both wonderful and cruel. They grow up and we grow old.
