Lot of pending Congratulations seem to be due on me. Remember my ICSIgirl? Her son was born in November end, a little early, but both mum and baby are doing fine, and already home. Such a huge, massive relief and joy for me.
Kakunaa is pregnant and so is Michele. Two women with very different stories to tell, and different TTC histories, and different life scripts, and yet, they are people I have been keeping a tab on, albeit very silently.

DH has been coming late every night this week. So much so that he has always breezed in after dear girl has fallen asleep.
We keep running through the 'What do you want?' question.
I want to retain the adjective that Lori gave me - kindness.
I am grateful for far too many things, and one day Figlia will be grown up enough for me to not need another person to look out for her, when I am in the loo.
I am not accusing him of avoiding his paternal duty. In fact, he is lovely with her. There are rigours of start-up businesses which are epic in themselves.
Someday, if I ever appear on the print of some magazine as the big-butt tycoon wife, remember to watch out for the jewellery I wear. It will cost as much as I want the lost moments to cost.
That last para - pure mum honesty wrapped in comedic foil. I know what you mean. Both not the accusing thing and the jewellery thing. :-)
ReplyDeleteWell, the missed moments are definitely not replaceable with jewelry, however, there should be some compensation for working extended hours without even a bathroom break!
ReplyDeleteSorry he's missing these moments. And sorry that he's not able to give you much of a break either, even if it's just for the loo (those moments are pretty big in the end). Hopefully he'll have more time in the near future :(

ReplyDeleteYou said it. By roughly this time next year, Joel's company is going to have, between the three partners, three kids under the age of 2. I'm looking forward to seeing how they manage to keep the business going!
I understand both your desire to take care of your own needs for only 10 minutes (seems like it may never come), and also your wishes that your husband not miss out on these precious moments with Figlia as a baby (which will too soon be gone).
ReplyDeleteEvidence of your kindness to yourself, to him and to Figlia.
I feel your pain, St. E. My husband works long hours too. He does have a demanding job, and he is supporting 6 people on one salary, and in this economy we are grateful for the work. I know he would rather be home with us. And it's a cycle. I will have a talk with him, and then he'll start coming home earlier. Then his hours will slowly creep longer and longer until we are right back where we started.
ReplyDeleteSigh.
Thank you for the shoutout. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry the hubs is working long hours. It sucks. Hopefully, it will square itself away soon.
