Figlia had a routine immunization on 7th November evening. I found her having developed a cough on the morning of 8th. By evening, she had red rashes all over her body. It was an allergic reaction to the shot. As of today, we are through with the medication, and the marks are taking their own sweet time to go. Plus, the cough is still there.
Since the last post of mine, we have also successfully survived a visit to DH's family and then again had guests at home.
Figlia is now on a single digit countdown to her birthday, and I can hardly believe it. She has suddenly developed, (and suddenly is the perfect adjective because one fine day, she just started!), an affinity for actual solids. Remember when I spoke of how the biscuit never ever landed in her mouth? Well, she started eating it She has also started biting on and eating other food stuff. I am now quite relieved from the puree business. She is refusing apples and veggie soups, but that's okay.
This is how we generally go with counting 1 - aa, 2 - aa, 3 - aa, 4 - aa, 5 - aa, 6 - aa, 7 - aa, 8 - aa, 9 - aa and 10 as aaaaaaaaaa.
On Sunday, we decided to change that mix: 1 - aa, 2 - two, 3 - aa, 4 - aa......we are in love with two. Two is a pretty word that gets repeated on and off the whole day. It becomes two, and ta and two...it flies away as 'two two two'. We love two.
She is crazy mobile as well. I have found that she pays a lot of attention to music, and I have fixed some songs such that she recognizes them and responds to them. And then one tries a new tune to see her face light up, or the giggles tumble down.
I have a mental crisis calibration scale developed and operating. A diaper rash (that seems about to set in) is 5, fever is 10. Teething is 5, but colic is 10. Waking up frequently every single night because that is how it is for her is 5, but wanting to nap, and being unable to do so for any sort of sickness (I am looking at you ChokySnot) is 10.
I have also gotten over the idea of entering TTC again in December. I was speaking with my mum on and around this topic, when I realized that if I found myself pregnant, I would go ahead with it, but another pregnancy, atleast a planned one is not coming up for me anytime soon (soon includes the coming six months).
The chill has already set into the air, and whispers of the winter are not so subtle now. It will be my first winter after the last two years, when I won't be heavily or not-so-heavily pregnant.
The whole "not being able to sleep because my nose is too plugged up to breathe, especially if I want to soothe myself by sucking on my pacifier" is not fun. Gwen's been sick-ish since I went to Canada mid-October, but thankfully right around her birthday the congestion cleared up and she just has a bit of a cough left.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute about the counting!
same here - if I find myself pregnant - awesome! But no specific TTC attempts until spring...
ReplyDeleteWell, good luck to us, I guess :/
Who doesn't love the number two? :)
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear she had a bad reaction to a shot. I hope she's feeling better soon.
Yeah, sometimes you feel bad about the crisis scale, when other people are looking at you like "you should really do something about that child" but it's really only a 1 or a 2...oh wait - you're not there yet, because she's not quite ready to start throwing full scale tantrums.
Oh, I'm so sorry for both of you for that allergic reaction! My mother and I experienced the same.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear about the solids :-)
Awww! The counting is so cute! It sounds like her reaction to the immunization lasted a long time!
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear from you. The reaction must have been scary... The counting is so sweet! Enjoy this winter. :-)
