I have been eyeing something for a while for Figlia. Eyeing means, I will keep going back to the link, see it again...look at the price, and close the window. Rinse. Repeat.
Now there is a 10 percent discount on my rinse-repeat goodie.
It is still expensive.
No one I know has used it, so I have no real life peer input on it. And it would possibly go under the heading of 'frivolous items'.
I keep opening that window and closing it.
And my daughter has refused that frivolous item's predecessor with much elan. Which means that not only will the item be considered frivolous, it might actually not get used at all.
Which would mean that the money I am spending on it, would be wasted.
What would you do? Would you still buy the item?
I would probably buy the item. Because that is what I do, buy items. But I would also probably regret it. Because that is also what I do.
ReplyDeleteBut in all seriousness, if your daughter doesn't like the item's predecessor and you can't try it out on her before buying it I just wouldn't. There is nothing worse than buying something exorbitantly expensive except buying something exorbitantly expensive that never gets used. I know, I bought a TON of those things for my daughter.
I say go for it! You have been eyeing it for a reason. If it brings you that much joy to think of her having it, then get it.
ReplyDeleteOk I have to know what it is. I'm one of those people who does the same thing you're doing. I usually end up buying it and pray that they like it. Sometimes they do and I'm told that I'm the best mommy, and sometimes it's a flop.
ReplyDeleteIf Figlia does indeed disdain it, do you have a friend that you could give it to so that it did get use?
ReplyDeleteKnowing myself and my shopaholic tendencies I'd probably buy it. Not that it would be the right choice but I love to buy. You could maybe try to resell on eBay if figlia doesn't appreciate the item.
ReplyDeleteI am highly practical and would probably not buy.
ReplyDeleteBut if it would bring ME pleasure in some way, I might buy it anyway, even if my child didn't take to it.
Let us know what you decide.
i have to know what it is to give you my opinion. my daughter is 2 1/2 now, i can tell you if it would have been used or not.
ReplyDeleteOh, I've been there! Sometimes I bought, sometimes I didn't... Good luck! (and yes, I would love to know what it is).
ReplyDeleteIf I had the money, I would probably buy it. But sometimes I get a little crazy buying stuff for V. I might not... depends on the price really. I buy him a lot of stuff, but it's generally on sale or not to expensive to begin with. Things I keep going back to check on though? Those usually do end up bought.
ReplyDeleteMy first question is...is it returnable? If so, buy away. If it's not returnable, then you have to weigh the cost of Figlia not liking it. Do you have someone else you could give it to if she doesn't care for it? That's another option...
ReplyDelete(As you can probably tell, all signs, for me, point to yes! Buy it!)
Whilst it is considered frivolous do you have the money for it? If the answer is yes, buy it. If the answer is no, leave that window closed.
ReplyDeletexxx
I would be very tempted to buy it.
