Surprise!

"Who are you talking to?"
"Myself?"
"You talk to yourself?"

Inch-close to being married for almost nine years to this man, and he has never figured that I tend to talk to myself?

Is your spouse/partner surprised at something that you perceived as common knowledge for him/her? Has your partner discovered something new about you recently?

  1. Lol. I remember my ex-boyfriend used to tell me he talked to himself and I didn't think much of it as many people do, myself included. Then one night we had an argument and I left, waited until he went to sleep(passed out) and snuck back in and slept on the couch. The next morning he got up and was carrying on this whole big conversation (like he was on the phone with someone) about what a bitch I was and that I had left etc. Only problem was that he wasn't talking on the phone, he was talking to himself. Gave me a whole new perspective.

  2. I swear out loud. And I need to change this. But sometimes I just can't stop myself. Hubs is quite annoyed I cannot exert some self control. Then sth happens and he drops sth graphic. We're two of a kind... Hope G will not pick those up. Our native tongue is quite descriptive and dirty in that respect.

  3. I think my hubby is surprised when I do bite my tongue or handle something gracefully rather than speaking my mind, at times rather vividly. I don't tend to filter or censor much.

  4. My husband has this idea that I'm not crass, that I'm spiritual, that I'm all kinds of other things that I'm not. Basically, he's projecting what he wants onto me. You'd think after living with me for 12 years, he'd have figured me out, but no...

  5. We recently figured out why it is that no matter what time of day we have to leave, my husband won't start packing until about half an hour before (whereas unless we're leaving in late afternoon/evening, I've packed the night before -- and then spend the rest of the time fidgeting since HE'S NOT PACKED YET and it drives me nuts). When he was a kid, his mom used to make him get ready to go insanely early, and then he had nothing to do but sit around and wait. 10 years we've been planning trips together, and it was only last week before we headed to Iceland that he realized that this is why he packs the way he does and was able to articulate it!
