And the baby does too! My Friday night sleep-miracle got spoiled last night....The baby woke up, had a good feed, continued to feed till I wondered if the baby's appetite had rocketed north, and then the baby spew out all the milk she took...and started to cry. And when nothing seemed to help at all, she left a trail of yikes-smelling gas...and she got better from there.
Since then, she has been cranky...and has just managed episode-next of the milk spewing about ten minutes ago. I rubbed her back good enough, and the next feed has gone well, but she is still passing gas.
Since whatever nutrition she has is 100 percent momma-sourced, it is yours truly who has upset the baby's system. I am not having peas again for a while.
Nuff said.
And, I always found it mildly lewd when people cribbed about fluctuating numbers on FB....I had a case of see-saw FB digits a while ago, but I realized it was technical rather than people disappearing....
But it seems post-Figlia, there is a slip...it is gradual, but people are going away. I do not know why....I have never ever come out about the pregnancy (neither the last one or CBub's)... I never announced the birth on FB, and I don't post rabid on FB about the kiddos...so do people shy away when new mommas become too ostentatious about the kids, or just the perception that it might happen, shoos them away?
Massage? For both of you!
ReplyDeleteDon't know what's with fb, but you can always count on a poke from me!
xxx
My 9:30 wake up time got ruined last night too. Louie is sick. Has a fever and everything. Poor guy. He slept with me last night and there was not enough sleeping. Maybe tonight will be better.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about FB, I never noticed any number changes pre and post kiddos, but mine is a private FB not attached to a blog? I know I do roll my eyes at those mothers who get the optional lobotomy when they give birth and can only obsess over their child now (my kid spit! SPIT!).
ReplyDeleteBut, I'm guilty of it too.
My FB numbers change constantly! I know for a fact my husband deactivate/deleted his account, and several weeks afterwards it appears and disappears. CRAZY.
ReplyDeleteDo you eat dairy? sometimes that can cause fussiness and spitting up in Figlia. I love that you chose the Italian name for girl for her bloggie name! (I'm Italian).
I learned in a newborn class that doing the bicycle pedaling maneuver with Figlia's legs may help get some of that painful gas out. And others swear by gripe water, but I've never tried it. Hugs.
How strange about FB...I would imagine changes like that associated with a blog, but FB?
ReplyDeleteHow strange about FB. I notice a difference on my blog, but not FB. Maybe since yours is linked? I keep mine separate, except for a couple bloggers I've added.
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to figure out between what we eat and how it affects them when BF'ing. Hope that's going well for you, btw. It can be challenging, as I'm finding out firsthand lol.
To be honest, I don't really look at my FB numbers. I figure the people who care about me will always be there and the others? Well, if you don't add to my life, then I'm not going to miss you when you're gone.
ReplyDeleteI remember having a hard time linking what I ate to what gave Skeeter an upset tummy. Sometimes it seemed like if he wanted an upset tummy, well then he was going to have one. No matter if Mama lived on white bread!
I had the same experience after Ava was born!
ReplyDeleteIt might not be entirely all your fault, Figlia's immature digestive system is also well, immature. It is inevitable, this gassy - colicky period, everyone must go through it. When George was going through that, I was always worried about the amount of spit up (to me it was enormous, until myhusband poured a teespoon of water on the counter top to prove it was not much - and it was not, but still...) and we had to hold him a lot and massage him (tummy rubs, bicycle, also tummy time - but this pissed him off so badly, I did not know what was worse, gas or tummy time).
ReplyDeleteAlso, a small cherry stone filled pillow, warmed up in the microwave, proved to be quite helpful. And we gave him SabSimplex, some drops that helped with the gas elimination a lot (tried them myself and they do work) and the thing about them is that they are nor absorbed by the body, so both the ped and the midwife said to use them whenever needed without worries. Which we did.
This does not mean that it was easy. It was not. He cried in the evenings until he got hoarse (and not only, but that was the prefered time). He would spit up constantly and did it until he was what, 5-6 mo.
You learn to make the difference between the normal and the worrisome baby actions. You worry no matter what, but the alarm goes on only when needed. Trust your instincts. They are way more sharpened than you might think. :-)
Hugs. It gets easier, it truly does. Take one day and night at a time, and you'll see.
As if the comment was not long enough - the teespoon example is very obscure. What I meant was this: even though it may SEEM a lot, there is actually not that much spit up. Pour a teaspoon of water on the counter top and it will seem a lot, but you know it is not. Also, I meant to write teAspoon above, but did not make it. Well... There. :-)
ReplyDeleteI can't say I noticed people drop off on FB but then again, like others, mine has mostly family and friends and only a few bloggers I know better.
ReplyDeleteReading through the trials of the newborn phase and I have to really think hard to remember what it was like for us. Must be that selective memory in action...
I also do not pay attention to the numbers on Facebook. Or my blog.
ReplyDeleteThe gas...my least favorite thing! There was nothing in particular I could pinpoint that brought it on. 5 years later, she still gets the occasional bout of gas pain that wakes her up at night. The mylicon drops never worked for her. Bicycling her legs did. That's a tough one, because it takes you a while to figure out why they're so mad! Good luck - hope it's just the peas.
