A stray cat had made our front garden a cosy place for herself and her two kittens this week. The kittens would fight leaf monsters, paw flower pots, and in general climb up and down the place. The cat funnily enough always climbed to the birdhouse, and sat there, watching everything from the distance. Then there was general frolic in the sunshine, and sleeping around, and sometimes the cat & kids would be gone for a while.
That happened till Thursday. I first noticed a strange timbre of meowing that day...and thought the cat-daddy was around. Friday, I realized that it was the feline-missus herself, and she was meowing strange.
And that's when I noticed that the kittens are gone. The kittens weren't old enough or trained enough to have taken stake to their own independent living.
I have no idea what happened to the kittens.
And the cat continues to meow in its strange voice. I think the cat is missing her children. Maybe she knows her kids are in trouble, or that they are not expected to have gone away so soon.
The cat almost sounds heartbroken.
And I don't like her meowing - the feeling it indicates. I don't like it at all.
The poor kitty. She does sound like she's miserable.
ReplyDeletePoor little mama cat. We once had the opposite happen, a mama cat who left her kittens in our yard. :(
ReplyDeleteOh, poor cat, and poor you - I can understand you don't like it at all. Maybe you can go give her some comfort (without contracting toxoplasmosis of course)?
ReplyDeleteThe meowing-calling is very strange. If the kittens are so young to not be able to take care of themselves, then they should be close by, and if they are not, then someone with two legs is mostly responsible for that. But if they came a week ago to settle in your garden, they must not be all that helpless, even if accompanied by their mum.
ReplyDeleteI know that the sound of that must be very disturbing to you, but it is not an omen for what is to happen to you and Season. Cats are very independent creatures, but also creatures of habit. Kittens often leave their mums when it is time for them to do so, and it is the way their lives unfold.
Try not to look for signs of what is to come outside yourself. Nothing can do that, so you just have to focus on yourself and Season, this is where the signs come from.
Hope the cat situations has a happy ending soon.
God, sometimes tablets are annoying... I published before finishing.
ReplyDeleteSo, I hope that cat situation has a happy ending soon, so that it it brings you peace of mind and patience to wait for your own happy ending without looking for signs where there are not.
That must be so distressing! Maybe some one took the kitten thinking they were abandoned? I hope you'll find out what happened.
ReplyDeleteBig hugs to you
Oh, this just breaks my heart. She absolutely knows something is wrong. I hope things work out, but try not to focus on it. Focus on the wiggling :-)
ReplyDeleteWe had a cat once who moved part of her kittens, and forgot about the others. Luckily, we found them and reunited them all.
ReplyDeleteI hope she finds her babies soon.
I would find it upsetting too.
ReplyDeleteSo sad poor kitty. Keep looking after yourself.
ReplyDeleteMany hugs. What a heartbreaking thing to have to hear. I'd guess it is like a stab in your heart with every howl.
ReplyDeleteMuch love to you.
I wouldn't like it either. I hope whatever happened to the babies they are ok.
ReplyDeleteHugs hun! I hope mama cat finds her babies. And you WILL be fine. :)
ReplyDeletePoor mommy cat :-(
ReplyDeleteOh, I know that meow. It makes my chest tight just to think about it.
ReplyDeletePoor pussycat :( It's not a sign, it's just the cat's bad luck, I wouldn't like to hear her distress either though. Thinking of you and stalking you as ever ... xx
ReplyDeleteHope all is well!
