Efforts

I have consciously decided to not purchase anything for Season till the kid arrives, and lives. I feel hopeful that he/she will survive.

My mum once told me (before CBbub was born), that she would wrap the baby in gauze and bring it home, if that was all we had.

I am ready with the gauze.

I misplaced a good bit of clothes my SIL had handed me when I became pregnant with CBub. I neither made the efforts to look for them, nor were they present at their usual place.

When I go to the hospital, there will be hardly any clothes at hand....I hope for mad rushes from family and friends to go buy socks, nappies, onesies...whatever that is needed. May that be the case.

Thank you very much for the responses on the last two posts.

I have decided to not worry about the numbers that Season has been belting out. As a couple of bloggers did point out, I would like to factor in genetics in the readings.

Also, as far as the pain is concerned, SuperGyn has already said that it is round ligament pain...but I have never had such consistent soreness before...so your responses peppered with her input...and I take it could be the ligament pain and the fact that Season shoots volleys through my belly every now and then.

  1. When I went to the maternity, I had just a change of clothes for George, because I read you should have one. And it was a good thing, because the tiny clothes provided in the hospital were much better suited for handling a newborn (I have since learned which clothes are better and which are less advisable during those first few weeks). Nappies were provided also by the hospital, they also gave me samples of all ointments and whatnots I needed, and I ended up dressing up George with his own clothes before leaving the hospital.
We were just the two of us, my husband and I, with basically no idea about what is best for a baby, other than love that is. We learned. So will you. It is a matter of absorbing the necessary amount of info at the precise moment when it is needed. And help will most probably come if you ask for it, so try to cross every bridge when you reach it, and for now rest, eat and pray for Season.

Perhaps during these one-digit-weeks, when Season gains more weight, s/he is also getting stronger, so your guess could be true, coupled with round ligament pain, there you go, constant soreness.

Not worrying about numbers is wise, especially since it was just a one week lag, and if SuperGyn is fine with that, then I guess it must be.

    Thinking of you.

  2. I'm glad you are feeling confident with the answers provided by your OB and lovely Internet friends. I have felt round ligament pain with my first two pregnancies, ouch! I suppose my ligaments are worn away to nothing by now, as I have not felt them this time. But it's very common.

The baby doesn't *really* need much anyway. There are many things that we parents THINK we need, or manufacturers TELL US we need. But I understand your reluctance not to stock up before Season arrives, and you'll be just fine for it.

  3. All you need is an outfit to wear home. Everything else can be purchased on the way home (or, preferably, by others while you're still in the hospital!).

  4. You would be amazed at how cutely you can dress an infant in gauze... ;) Whatever you have to do, or NOT do, to get through these days, just go for it. Breathe, hope, pray, & dream. More than anything, I want you to dream. This little one is coming home in your arms.

  5. I am very sure that there are plenty of people around you who would love to scramble to get Season anything needed.
