Possibly the first time I did it to myself. And I am not happy about it at all.
About 90 minutes ago, when I was still settled in front of my PC, I suddenly noticed my posture.
I have this particular way of sitting lately because sitting erect for too long on this chair makes me feel very uncomfortable. Then why was I comfortable doing it today? Why did my back not start killing me already?
I suddenly had this crazy rumble that maybe there was something wrong with the baby. Yes, that's what I thought. I stunned myself altogether. Oh God, the appointment was still about 10 days away from today.
Needless to say, it has taken a lot of WiseGuy Vs. WiseGuy cajoling to bring me back to normalcy.
I can't really take anything going wrong with this pregnancy. P.L.E.A.S.E. G.O.D.
Breathing deeply, I told my brain to shut the hell up. A part of my brain is still floating in the cynic-sauce. Not good.

No freaking out! You have hit the 12week milestone and it is going to be fantastic! Have you considered buying a home Doppler? Would that give you some peace of mind? HUGS.
ReplyDeleteOf all the things I did not have this pregnancy, back pains were prominently on the first place. And I used to have chronic back pains, I did physiotherapy for years. And I had absolutely no back pain whatsoever! Beats me how this is possible, really. The same goes for my sudden perfect vision and my not needing the glasses any more. I had other kinds of pain, but no back pains - and when I remember my physiotherapist telling me to NEVER forget to do my special exercise or I would be immobile during pregnancy. How I wish I could talk to him now...
ReplyDeleteAnyway - you might just be that lucky to have some things going better for you during pregnancy. And considering your being on the verge of 2nd trimester, you should start noticing other things as well.
And thank God you are normal after all. A bit of freak out is healthy, your zen was putting us all to shame, you know?! :-p
Maybe renting/buying a doppler could be a quick fix for freaking out episodes, but this is sth you know better.
I agree with the doppler suggestion. I rented mine for 3 months and it has gotten me through my panicky moments.
ReplyDeleteBut, something to keep in mind... as you get further along, your uterus shifts position, and Kaiser might be sitting higher or further forward than before, and that may be easing the strain on your back.
Freak outs are normal... especially for us IFers. I will be praying that they are few and far between.
I triple agree with getting a doppler. I bought one so I could use it in all my pregnancies, and it's amazing for clearing up these little freak-outs quickly. :-)
ReplyDeleteNo freaking out allowed! Seriously, you are doing great. I'm glad you were able to do WiseGuy vs. WiseGuy and talk yourself down at least a little. I guess some degree of worrying is inevitable, but really, it sounds like you're doing fine so far. Hugs to you.
ReplyDeleteOn edit: there doesn't seem to be an option for me to add an email address as you requested.
freak-outs are horribly normal.
ReplyDeletei agree: get a doppler. i've lent mine out to someone but if i can get it back, do you want to borrow it? i can mail it to you.
Oh honey, those freak-outs are so horrible and so normal after what you've gone through to get where you are. Get thee a doppler.
ReplyDeleteYou know what, you hang around this corner of blogland for any sort of time and you learn just how much can and does go wrong.
ReplyDeleteBut.
MOST BABIES ARE BORN FINE AND WELL.
Get the doppler and repeat the above every time that other Wise Guy starts to doubt.
Sending good thoughts your way.

Wow. That sounds like a really normal reaction, well, as far as MY reactions are "normal," because that sounded like a reaction I would have. QD vs. QD goes on a LOT.
ReplyDeleteDo whatever you have to do to give yourself peace of mind.
Ugh, so sorry for the freak out. I had them as well: "I'm feeling this, rather than that. Have I lost the babies." It was really terrible. I sympathize with you. I never did use the doppler, as I thought it would be too tough to find both the heartbeats with the twins, but it sounds like a really good thing with a singleton.
ReplyDeleteI had a lot of "just calm down" moments, they seemed to come in between doctors visits. I was never as happy as when I would get to hear them or see them.
I hope you are able to find your happy place (and a doppler)!
Yes, freakouts are allowed and were mostly the norm for me. I tried to keep them at an arms distance but the damn things are so persistant.
ReplyDeleteAnd, yes, GET A DOPPLER! It will be so worth the peace of mind it gives you. Plus, it is a nice little bonding moment to have just before bedtime. Those were some of my favorite moments with Skeeter. :-)
