..as normal is normal these days.
I have an off today from work and so far I am just riding it out. In fact, as I am typing this I realized I left something on the stove that I have not stirred in the last 30 minutes...
... stir stir stir...
There was a workshop these past three days, and I took care to stay comfortable. For afternoon sessions, I used to intentionally sit in the last few rows so that I could rest my legs on an adjoining chair.
And oy, on Sunday (day 2 of the workshop), a colleague (*sniff sniff, yes*) asked me if 'my baby was a test tube baby or normal'. It was a little deja vu of what Mel had covered in a post not too long ago.
Well, I just replied that I had conceived the baby naturally. Normal is an idiotic term to use really.
I am sixteen weeks, two days today, and hopefully will meet Dr. BS tomorrow night.

That question is annoying. But I am so getting a shirt that says, "IVF baby on board." That should answer that question. I want one for my husband that says, "my wife is carrying another man's baby and we couldn't be happier." LOL. Glad you are taking it easy. Good luck at the Dr!
ReplyDeleteYay for 16 weeks!! Maybe you'll feel movement soon!! **dancing**
ReplyDeleteUgh, I hate the "natural" question; "yes, my twins are 'unnatural', see their extra heads and 12 fingers?"
And what makes people think it is OK to ask such a question? No one would ever say, "did you and your husband have sex to make this baby?" Because that would be rude....hmph
16 weeks already? Good golly time flies. Are you going to have an u/s to find out the sex?
ReplyDeleteNormal? So my twins aren't normal? Well, we knew that already. hehe But yeah, that's an awful question. I get it with this baby because everyone knows I did IVF for the twins. Ahh well, not everyone has a brain. :-)
16 weeks already! 2o weeks scan is around the corner... Nice to hear you are taking care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteAs for the dumb question - I am too tired to comment on the vastness of stupidity. The other ladies are doing a great job without my invaluable input. ;-)
Yay for 16wks!
ReplyDeleteWhat a dumb question from your colleague... I probably would've had something snarky to say lol, I have no self restraint these days.
I HATE that question! The nerve of people-and another one, "did you deliver them naturally or c-section?" I want to say "Naturally, by the way how was your last pap cuz apparently we are BFF's and share that kind of information!"
ReplyDeleteBut I always leave it at "Naturally." (sigh)
SO HAPPY FOR 16 WEEKS!
The natural question drives me nuts. It's like asking a woman if her bo.obs are real or fake... ugh!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 16 weeks!
Wow, nothing like infertility/pregnancy/motherhood to make people think they can say anything. How rude.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 16 weeks! :)
That question really pisses me off. People are so rude and stupid sometimes.
ReplyDeletestir stir stir, i love it :)
ReplyDeleteif someone asked me if my baby was "normal," i think i would ask them if their boobs or hair were real depending on if it was a man or a woman, because that seems like an equally inappropriate rude question.
