Ha Ha Ha!
You better go off all those things you are feeding yourself and your spouse, because it is all in your stupid mind.
All those vain shots of hope? Gah!
You just have to kick it out of your brain, and wham it will happen. After all the best attempts are made by people who have sex but do not want to get pregnant. History is replete with success rates there...and here we are thinking sex with progeny pasted on our faces.
Climbing down the Preacher Pole...
^Deep Breath^
I was on a treatment break, not a TTC break. I was on a treatment break for several reasons:
a) Having had my fill of medicated cycles.
b) Having sub-optimal access to ART in my current abode.
c) Energy sucked into a thesis (Nopes, Am not done with it yet/ Please Whip me to go faster, would you?)
But I was noting my cycles, making an ovulation calendar, and intentionally having 'fun' on/around the dates. I was not relaxed. Whisper ads were rubbing on to me...In fact, I was too set to have my AF arrive in June , coz I had checked my stock of the safety wongs.
I took the periods-to-arrive for granted, and was quite prepared to do the same. When they arrived, my reaction ranged from 'bingo on time/before time' to 'blah, what's new'.
Plus if you have forgotten, We (Meh and Birdman) were taking the micronutrient supplements, remember? That's not a sign of relaxing. Its a sign of effort. There is however a dirty secret here. I stopped taking my share of the supplements after 20 odd days...(multiple reasons again). Birdman continued.
Here I am, sitting on a chair, two hands physically typing a post but mentally wanting to rub a soon to develop belly bump.
Can you believe that I am crazily hoping the bump to appear soon enough, so that I can finally feel it all?
^WiseGuy^
P.S. I now wonder if sperm quality was our issue? The supplements did the trick?

Go supplements!!! Oh if the world only knew how unrelaxed TTC really is...
ReplyDeleteI would not be surprised if sperm quality were the issue. Your TTC history and mine had so many parallels and that was our problem. But what do I know? All I do know is that you're knocked up! The belly will soon make its appearance and you can rub away! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you will hear many comments IRL about how 'finally relaxing' benefited you. Rub your belly (and, in secret, roll your eyes). In reference to your comment on my blog: Kaiser is indeed a miracle of the first degree!
Whipping away (but gently). How about I beat you with a wet spaghetti noodle?
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! :)
ReplyDeletelol about the relaxing. I'm sure you'll get a lot of those comments too, but we know what you're saying and what you were doing. Totally. Not doing medicated cycles doesn't mean a break by any means.
ReplyDeleteHas he ever been tested? You never know, a vitamin supplementation can do wonders if there is a sperm issue sometimes. I've always had A- take vitamins, just as a precaution. Since they're something that doesn't normally cause issues, and is more likely to help than anything.
There are a lot of miracles going around lately :) it gives us all hope!
ReplyDeleteRub the soon-to-be-bump for me too OK?
ReplyDeleteSupposedly I have "relaxed" with success twice now, only the months preceding the success were spent with ovarian stims and Novarel. It just appears that either the ovulation, or the forcing of the ovulation, tricks my body into doing its job for a month or two after a medicated cycle. But there was effort! Still have to have the medicated cycles in the first place.
ReplyDeleteMy ovulatory issue is unexplained. I can;t help but wonder, what is it about a few months of simple stimming that convinces them to work?
I'm so glad I won't have to "relax" just the thought of it makes me angry, ha ha ha!
ReplyDeleteNow of course you are going to have to list the micronutrients please. Plus how many you and DH took, on what days, and with how much water. Not obsessing or anything, just you know, part of my "relaxing" plan.
So now you know the secret...supplements for 20 days, then quit, but make your partner continue! Magic!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, I don't know if I commented before on this, but there was no way I was going to connect "just relax and..." with you, as you did not seem "relaxed,"--at least in the baby making area. After all, you still had this blog, you still tracked your cycles and told us about them, and yes, see above, your "magic" formula. ;)
So happy for you friend. Relaxed or not.
That just relax crap always pisses me off. So glad your not relaxing did the trick.
ReplyDeleteYou will hear that relaxing crap and even more. Unfortunately there is an endless supply of unbearable know-it-alls everywhere you look. Look in their direction and they will talk your ears off.
ReplyDeleteAnyway - you are bound to enter folklore now, micronutrients or not. And for the moment enjoy the incredible feeling that you know something that the rest of the world is oblivious about and that you are growing a little miracle inside.
Dude, after my bumpy journey to parenthood, I'd put it down as something as simple as.... don't shoot me now... when its your time its your time!
ReplyDeleteEven when we aren't in the middle of a treatment cycle, I don't think any of us truly can relax.
ReplyDeleteGo ahead and rub that belly in your office! Enjoy!
I'm so, so happy for you! Mazel tov on such a wonderful miracle!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Here from lfca, and have to smile because the same thing is happening to me :)
ReplyDeleteHoly Crap! Hooray!
ReplyDeleteGlad you were able to just lounge around by the pool and then all of a sudden realize you were prego just like all those fertiles :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats
I am going to really work on this relax idea. DH is starting his vitamins tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
congratulations! and ugh, STUPID relax stuff. It IS about effort, and luck. Keeping fingers crossed for the bump!
ReplyDeleteI am so far behind on this (that's what I get for being MIA), but sending so many congratulations your way! I am incredibly happy for you :D
