I

Dear Baby Kaiser,

The ticker tells me that I am 9wk0d today. I would be hopefully seeing Dr. BS tomorrow so that I can see you once again. I think the bump is starting to appear. You know your momma is not flat-tummied anyways, so she can't really make out if it is your presence or just her old bloated belly showing through right now.

I tend to sleep lot lesser in the afternoon, but I make sure that I do lie down for about 10-15 minutes after I come back home from the office. Hope you appreciate that. :-)

Your Dadi called me the past week to ask me how you were doing...and how well I was coping. Was so glad to tell her, "All is well". I started having almonds from July 7 (Wednesday). I had soaked four on Tuesday night. Your dad cleaned his hands on two. Yep! Anyways, next day onwards, I started soaking more because you know...bleh!

With the way my food cravings have shifted gear, I am yet to decide what you really like. Or anything that I want to eat in particular now gets attributed to you. The week before I found out, I had way too many mangoes, then came tomatoes, then came chocolates, mangoes again and so forth. I like eggs, but can't really live up to any spicy or non-vegetarian fare beyond that. And I hate veggies....almost all of them, except two - potatoes and bottle gourd.

I had mentally told myself that I would read the Chalisa everyday if I got pregnant. Now that you are in there, I read it to you and myself everyday. You like it, don't you?

I was even thinking of taking out that page you know. That page that contains my favourite lullaby. I need to memorize it. I want to sing it to you (but then my lazy gene strikes and I think of doing it at some later date).

Your Nani finally got me around to saying 'Om Namah Shivay' whenever I can. Not in the jaap sort of way, but as a way of easing my mind, or soothing myself, in times of worry or super excitement. My current excitement is all you.

Your Nani is a very persuasive person. I am already starting to wonder whose side of the family you resemble. I think, mine. :-)

I am emotionally more stable now. I hope to be like that over the coming days too.

Be good.

  4. I had to look up the Chalisa on Wikipedia. I, too, promised myself something if our son lived, and when he was born alive, I fulfilled that promised and have donated to St Jude's Children's Research Hospital every month since his birth. With this one, I also have a secret debt that I will fulfill.

  5. It's so nice to hear about other cultures' traditions during pregnancy (and in general). One day you and I will have to compare between Judaism and Hindu. :-)
