Kaiser!
Yeps, finally did get to see my doc last night. Baby was measuring 6 weeks,1 day...and I am just too glad about it.
So here's the rehashing...my life would change everyTuesday Sunday, as I make it from week to week into this pregnancy.
Birdman was there. We got a pic of the ultrasound and he asked me about the contents of the picture....he was walked through the uterus, the sac and precious being developing inside.
So we have this one perfect baby going super strong...and I pray to meet the little one in February 2011, safe and healthy in my arms. That would be so good really.
----
Rant ahead...
Yeah, I told you about Dr. M right? The assistant to Dr. BS?
Well everybody has to go through Dr. M, and then only Dr. BS would see the patient. Last night I was very hopeful of getting that ultrasound from Dr. BS, and was not very happy when I was made to sit in front of Dr. M.
Two things really snap-cracked me:
a) She told me, 'Let's see you.' I froze, because if I wanted to be wanded by her, I would have done so this past week itself. I told her that I would like the ultrasound from Dr. BS herself.
She responded, "Why? Am I not a doctor?". Her irritation at me did not subside after that. She went on to note down on my papers (!!!) that I refused the TVS.
b) In my previous appointment, Dr. BS wrote me a prescription for number of things including a drug called Doxinate. She told me to take them if the nausea got too much. I took that literally.
Last night, Dr. M was reviewing my medication and she asked me about Doxinate. I told her that since I have nausea, but I don't really puke anything, I had not taken any of it. And she threw more snark at me, "Ah, you anyways knows so much, so it is just as well." I hated her, right then.
No, you old fool, I don't know much and whatever I know is not because I made the choice to know about it, in the first place.
I had actually assumed that Doxinate was only to be taken in case of excessive nauses, but y'day I got told that it was multi-vitamin and had to be taken. Hey thanks there!
I think I would want to seriously keep my mouth shut, and not throw too many non-layman terms at both Dr. M and Dr. BS. In a way, the image they are forming of me is of a smart-ass patient who thinks too much of her own knowledge. Ack!

That's so awesome!!!! Any h/b yet or just measuring? I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes of pure, unadulterated joy for you. You have *no* idea how happy I am for you. Seriously, I want to come over there and squeeze the stuffing right out of you with happiness. lol
ReplyDeleteAs for the doc, screw her. What a complete arse!!
Whoop! I'm so glad you saw Kaiser.
ReplyDeleteBut ugh, Some Doctors are SO precious about their sacred knowledge. I mean really, how dare you think for yourself!
I have another 8 days before my ultrasound, it's going really slowly!
xxx
Hooray for your little miracle!
ReplyDeleteAs for the Dr I have dealt with SO MANY of them over the years who think that I am some smartass just because I have some basic knowledge of my own body. Sad thing is I am sure I DO know more than some of them! Stick to your guns love, and only see the one you feel comfortable with. I wouldnt like this Dr M either from the sounds of her!
So happy to hear that you got to see your perfect baby!
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear about the Dr. Attitude there though. Perhaps you should think about getting another doctor? I am not implying that they are not competent or something, but it is very important to get along with your doc and every message to get across both ways flawlessly (see the vitamins/nausea pills). You do not want any additional stress during pregnancy, the hormones are more than enough.
If you can't, you will have to seriously step over many of your first impulses to soothe the relations, and still it is not guaranteed. You deserve attention and care and sympathy, not sniggering and derisive comments. Finally, it is a matter of trust, and patronizing is not an element of trust.
Anyway - GROW KAISER! ;-)
Yay for the healthy baby! And tell that snarky doc to kiss off!
ReplyDeleteFirst... HOORAY for the u/s itself going well! So happy for you :)
ReplyDeleteSecondly- ack about that way they treated you at the doctors. I would have been furious and honestly switched doctors. Or made damn sure I never saw her again, just... omg that was so rude of her. Sorry you had to deal with that.
yea for the baby pic!!! And there really needs to be some sort of reporting system for crazy inappropriate doctors like the one you saw. Sorry you had to deal with that.
ReplyDeleteThat behaviour from your doctor is NOT ON! You deserve to be treated differently and with compassion and kindness. Walk away from it!
ReplyDeleteYea for little Kaiser growing big and strong at 6 weeks!
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree with everyone else....tell the docs to shove off. Ugh!
I would have been very upset if I had encountered that experience at the doctor's. On the brighter side--
ReplyDeleteyay for the ultrasound! Woot!
Yay for a prefect heartbeat. Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear that the ultrasound went well!!! Sorry about the crapjerktastic doctor :(
ReplyDeleteWonderful news! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteGO KAISER GO!
ReplyDeleteOh what wonderful news. Hooray! Try not to worry too much about that doctor (I know that's easier said than done) because the important stuff is all happening INSIDE!!!!
ReplyDeleteYay for little Kaiser! Boo for the smart-ass doctor!
ReplyDeleteSending prayers and good thoughts your way!
Oh man, Congrats on being pregnant.
ReplyDeleteDoctors can be quite irritating. They think they know everything. Pa-lease.
Happy ICLW#180

ReplyDeleteAwesome u/s news! And keep that nasty, Dr. BS away from your lady parts and growing baby. She's a ________ (fill in with your favorite bad words).
