A particular doctor in my current city is on a publicity trail, with photos published of women in her clinic who reported pregnancies through IVF in her clinic. Now, this is a big deal because remember, that I live in a city, where I trust docs only uptil IUIs, and I need to travel to another city for anything above that.
I was happy, that such (professional) practice had begun in this city. I had forgone a chance in September 2009 to undergo IVF in this city, at the same doctor's.
What I was a little ticked about was that photographs of the women who had conceived through IVF were published, and I think that this compromises their privacy.
Nobody publishes photographs saying: "Hey, this woman had crazy s#x and is now knocked up.", but it was a matter of curiosity and novelty to point out women upfront who chose another not-so-hot way of conception.
Maybe I latched onto that transgression because I am slightly more sensitive than a common person about what phenomenon this is, and what all goes into pre-IVF thinking.
I feel that express consent should have gone in from the side of the patients before this ring circus happened.
Anyways, today another injected news article of a press conference by the same doctor was published in the newspaper. The woman was talking of how successful her previous (and first) batch had been and that she would be taking another batch in March 2010 now.
It was this article that I pointed out to my mother, and I told her about IVF becoming a reality in this city as well. I am anyways hopeful that I won't have to go through IVF again to conceive, and the truth really is that I am planning to be Clomidized till success or April, whichever comes earlier.
Mummy pointed out that with whichever person she had discussed my case history, the common opinion always stood at there were very high chances of me conceiving on my own.
The conversation then dondered on to dreams. My mother is heavily into meditation. Today morning, she saw a small boy who was eating something. My mother described me her experience, and we got talking about our dreams.
My mother and my aunts have always seen small boys, but all my fertility dreams, especially the ones I am close to, have always had little girls in them. There was only one time when I dreamt of twin boys that I was birthing. One more time I saw a boy, was when I was helping another lady in labour, deliver her baby.
Needless to say, by the time we came to this point in the conversation, it was becoming too emotionally charged.
I looked at the clock, and got up to get dressed.

Sending hugs. I am hoping that the clomid does the trick and April rolls round with good news... Very weird about publicizing all the women who had successful IVF without their permission right? I can understand if they gave their permission, but to just do it without, I would be so angry!
ReplyDeleteyou might be dreaming of aspects of your future baby's personality, which can present itself in either gender. I once asked a medium and she described a little girl to me, as she described it, a picture popped into my mind, clear as day of this smiley little thing with curls. But since then have also dreamed of boys... Maybe there will be a boy AND a girl :)
ReplyDeleteYou know in my dreams I always dreamed of a boy, even though my secret heart desire was a girl and now I have my girl.
ReplyDeleteReally hoping that IVF won't be necessary for you and that you get your success before April.
What a way to start the day. I hope your dreams come true soon.
ReplyDeleteWhat a heavy start to the day. Here's hoping that by April there will be absolutely no need to ponder IVF.
ReplyDeleteWhat a crazy stream of conversation for the morning. So April is the cut off, eh? Fingers crossed that things happen soon- I still have a feeling that somehow, this year will be different for you.
ReplyDeleteThat was a heavy conversation to start the day with.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be an absolute violation of privacy to publish these womens' pictures in the paper. Surely they had their permission?!?!
Go chlomid. you know i have never dreamt about being pregnant or anything along those lines. weird.
