In the Womb of *a* Future

I came back from my City X trip today morning itself. I spent the past two days at the above-indicated place. A detailed history of my fertility woes was noted and a new file with a new doc was created.

The centre is run by a husband and wife duo DJ and SJ, and both of them are doctors of repute. In fact DJ knew me as a kid, but we lost regular contact while I was in my Wonder Years. I had a lot of frank discussion with DJ and I posed him the same question, I have been posing a lot of my doctors….why do so many other people who have so many known root causes for infertility, so lucky in procreating (like my past-druggie cousin, and a schoolmate who was a Pan Parag fan). This guy was the only one who had a funny answer to that. He quipped, “Does every hardworking guy get a promotion?” Ah, thanks! Pretty soothing, you know! I have to admit, this was the only time I was smiling at the response.

DJ began his sermon with the line – It takes only one sperm to conceive!

[I hate that line]

The centre has three floors. There is a beautifully appointed garden as soon as one takes the stairs to the main glass entrance. There is a huge lobby and reception area with comfy sofas and chairs, plenty of time-pass magazines, newspapers and a huge Flat Screen TV. Different rooms have different titles (mostly Hindi) and you don’t get to meet the highnesses in one go. There is several in-between staff who garners tad-bit information on various issues so that the last guys have most of it collected even before they actually meet the patients. The centre is clean and has good interiors. I have been through several grades of hospitals lately and this one did not smell yucky at all.

I spent Friday and Saturday there and took a good view at the facility. IVF is now chalked out for me. These docs have a facility that attendants and patients can watch procedures being done for them through a network of cameras and projectors. I had the pleasure of seeing an ICSI procedure taking place. The couple for whom the procedure was being done were also present and I got to see, how the sperm selection was done, how the champs were carefully chosen and taken into the pipette and how the eggs were brought in 6 o’clock or 12 o’clock position and the sperm was directly introduced into them. This couple for whom I was there had 9 eggs on the go!

So IVF will be conducted for me. I am already on with the prescription game-plan. I had a Leuprogon Depot (3.75mg) injection on September 20 and the next one that I will take will be on October 18. I have to start with Tab Wysolone from October 18, taken daily, once a day. I have six injections to take from November 2 onwards. Meanwhile, I am already on with Becosule, Syrup Astymin and Tab Fer. I have also vented some more blood yesterday for TSH and other tests. Phew!

And how freaking COOL you got to see ICSI! We had it done ourselves and I've never seen it. I would have loved to have that option.

  11. I hate that line about only taking one sperm, too. Yea, right.

This center sounds like it is high tech. I would love to have been able to see all of the background stuff when I was going through IVF. It is all so fascinating to me.

I wish you much success--sooner rather than later!

Season...

With very limited time and access to the netz, I just want to declare that Lady Season is here. She arrived last Wednesday, and I will someday in future speak of how due to SuperPed's preparedness a crisis was averted. I tend to have firework endings. Her with me, and my first chance of mothering is like a spray of cold water on my face. I am very sleep deprived. Apparently, wise birds said to me that I should sleep when the girl sleeps, but so far my body schedule and kid's schedule are haywire. I hope to be better adapted to this soon. It is tough for me to find net time as of now, and there are a couple of things I want to post online, since CBub's dates also passed by recently, but so far it does not seem to be happening. And I just want to say thanks. Even though I am craptastic at responding, I am reading off and on as I can manage.
